Bouncer's Beginnings

The real life Bouncer was sitting in a hotel room up in Pennsylvania bored to tears. I had recently got out of the Army and was hired by a firm that provides security to many Fortune 500 businesses. Like the military, corporate security takes the hurry up and wait approach. I had been sitting in this room, waiting for the job to kick off for about a week, tired of TV and tired of going to the hotel gym.
I have never been a gamer, thought WoW was for geeks and dorks, but I noticed my roommate on his laptop, laughing, and playing something online. I'm curious by nature and asked what he was up to. That was my introduction to Second Life, and the rest is history. I jumped on my laptop, signed up and thus was born the noob Bouncer (bald, ugly, the noob walk, noob stance), but i was totally enthralled.
My very first day on Second Life, I was in one of the many freebie stores grabbing clothes, when I was approached by a girl to dance for her friends bachlorette party. Broke and dumb, I said yes! Looking back, I'm sure they had a good chuckle at my expense, but I guess I made a good enough impression that the owner of a club that was at the party asked if I would like to come work for her. I ended up working a few nights a week, mostly as security and if the event needed props, I would run and find them. I had a blast, and met some great people. The club owners even gave me a small house on their sim to live in.
When I wasn't working, I spent much of my time on SL roaming and surfing. I would punch something into the search and just wander around the sims, amazed at the detail and love that people had put into some of the places I had visited. Surfing, skateboarding, hitting a few clubs to try and make some linden. Typical noob stuff.
During those first few months, other than hair and clothes, I stayed relatively noobish. I never had a mentor or someone close to say, "lets take you skin shopping, your ugly as fuck and need a makeover." The skins two years ago pale in comparison to what the skins of today look like (more on that later).
With about 9 months under my belt, I had to to take an extended break from SL. My real life work schedule was so chaotic (i was working about 70 hours a week), it didnt leave much time for SL, and sleep was way more important than a virtual game. This break lasted about 6 months while I was establishing myself in my new job. Once my new career had settled down a bit, I actually took a day off in real life and while sitting at home one day, pulled out my computer and jumped on SL. I pulled up my friends list, started searching out old friends only to find most of them had disappeared or as I learned, they went back to playing WoW or real life was to hectec for them. Only SJ, a friend who DJ'd at the same club I worked, was still around.
Getting re-aquainted with SL, the first things that quickly jumped out that had changed dramatically was Skins and AOs. Gone wear the goofy, awkward noob dances, and the skins that I noticed on women and men's avi's where almost life like. Gone where the oily, bad shading skins of the past. Also gone where the bad dark, unrealistic tattoos. I met a girl named JF at The Galaxy (one of longest running and largest clubs in SL), where she worked as a host. We hit it off as friends, and she took me skin shopping at Beleeza and hair shopping at some other store. Born is the Bouncer of today. She said my shape was good, just needed a new skin and some hair. She took me around, found me some decent clothes and shoes at Redgrave. I hate shopping with a passion, so the help was appreciated. We ended up hanging out for a month or so, but she got partnered to some dude who didn't like that she hung out with me, so I went on my merry way.
Today, I'm the same Bouncer as two years ago, I work for a living in SL. I dance and DJ at Black Onyx, and also DJ at Unwrapped, two of the best ladies only clubs in SL. I've done a couple Adult Movies with Pink Kitten Productions, and hope to do more (SL is fantasy, so why not live out your fantasies). Most of my free time now has been working on a new platform I rent, and spending time with the friends i've met along the way. I'm a country boy at heart in RL, and my avi reflects that in the place i'm building for myself. Its quiet, peaceful, and mine.
This blog is to chronicle my adventures in SL. If you like it, follow along. I'm not a writer, and most times have problems expressing myself in writing...so don't expect Pulitzer Prize writing from me.
